If it's not one thing, it's another.

Have you ever heard the saying "If you fix one thing, another one will break"? especially when referring to cars and electronics? That has been the story of my day today with my car.

A little background: I am the only owner of my car, I bought it new in 2005 with 02 miles on it. I have taken care of it for the most part with regular maintenance. I have a history of bad luck with tires though as I seem to replace my tires YEARLY almost which to me seems a little much but I either wear and tear them from my balance or something being off(I am on a plan for a rotation and balance every 3 months now) OR I continually seem to somehow find nails/screws and run them over! I have learned my lesson and buy road hazzard on my tires as I buy them. So as of now, I have 3 tires with road hazzard warranty on them and one doesn't.

I also have recently had strut problems. I hit a BIG pothole/dip in the road back in Aug 2009 and was going fast enough that when I hit it I CRACKED a rim which caused my tire to immediately deflate. I had to buy a new rim (which came with the one said tire that is NOT under a road hazzard plan). Anyways, when I hit that hole going so fast and busted the rim I apparantly injured a strut as within a year, I was told my right strut (same side I busted a rim on) was broken. SO, since I am so close to 100K miles, I decided to fix both front at the same time. A week after I got that done I came out to an almost completely flat tire at the mall. Thankfully I was close to my tire place so I drove down the street got a new tire with my road hazzard plan and was on my way. Then I kept hearing a new noise that I DIDN'T hear before the strut work so I took it back to said place TWO times for them to recheck. First time they did some more work to the struts and got it to be not as noisy BUT I still kept hearing a weird noise. Took it back today and what do you know, they figure the issue out. My engine mounts are bad. Now I don't know about you but I freak out taking my car anywhere because I don't really trust people with it. It always seems you go somewhere to get something fixed and a week later something else breaks. I don't like that. So I immediately wonder if it's related. I've talked to a few people and they told me that strut work is completely unrelated to the engine mounts and it was just a coincedance. I believe that, it is just extremely inconvenient. UGH! I did get two opinions and one place said I needed to replace all 3 engine mounts, right, left and rear transaxle. They said only one was REALLY bad but might as well knock out the other two but the dealer just said I needed to fix the WORST one for now, so that's what I will be having done tomorrow. Oh, and in the mean time, I went out to my car to go grocery shopping tonight and low and behold, I see that I have somehow managed to run over a screw. Can you guess WHICH tire it's on? Yup, the ONE that has no road hazzard on it. Sigh. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It was even MARKED. I guess that one of the two places today saw it, marked it, and then forgot to tell me. Quite a day!

On a happy note, Chili is simmering on the stove, corn nuggets just came out of the oven and I am ready to relax with a movie.

XOXO
