Introducing Bullseye.

Hi, my name is Bullseye

It's been over a week now since I found a puppy in my local Target parking lot. A week I've spent scouring lost and found ads, calling all the shelters, asking around in the business complex that he was found, anything I could think of to find his owners, and still I have come up with nothing. This saddens me. I can't imagine someone dumping this precious puppy (or any for that matter). Seriously, if you can no longer care for an animal, take it to a vet or shelter, DON'T DROP IT OFF SOMEWHERE WHERE IT CAN GET HIT AND KILLED. Things like that REALLY annoy me. GRRR.

Anyways, I picked him up on Wednesday March 23rd in the Target parking lot (hence the name Bullseye) after chasing him around for a few minutes. He was very skittish and afraid and didn't want anyone to grab him. Thankfully a passerby was able to nab him, and pawn him off on me (okay, I offered). First thing I did was run him to my vet to get scanned for a chip. I was hopeful because he had a collar. NO CHIP. That saddened me. My vet gave me some dewormer and sent me on my way. Once at the house, he got along fine with my cats and dogs. I can't say the dogs are happy to have him around, but he sure is enjoying them. He's a puppy so very very hyper and wanting to play a lot. My dogs aren't all for that. Chico probably tolerates him the best. And that's because Chico likes to race around the backyard.

About that collar... the part that blows my mind is that when I picked him up the collar that he had on is the match to the leash that I own for Chico.

The pic of the left is my wall of dog leashes, collars, harnesses, etc. It includes the leash I use for Chico. The pic on the right is the dog when I picked him up, wearing the matching collar. Of all the collars in the world, really? I found that very weird.

So yeah, as of now, we have a new puppy in the house. He is adorable. Some type of small breed, my vet says maybe Chihuahua/Terrier mix.  Though I don't know if I am ready to commit to another furever friend. We have so much going on with the wedding that is in a few short weeks. If we have to get rid of him, I definitely want him to go to someone I know somehow so I can stay in touch, and ensure that if it doesn't work out he is not abandoned again, and instead returned to me. SO, lemme know if  you might know someone.

Why, hello kitty.

Goodnight

Project 31. Insecurities as a woman

How often have you admired a woman, maybe a friend or family member, or even someone you don't even know (from afar)? Sometimes we get so caught up in envying someone else, imagining their (supposedly) perfect life, that we don't even realize that just like us these women are insecure in one way or another as well.

Insecurity is everywhere.
Christians
Non-Believers
The Rich
The Poor
Adults
Children
Couples
Singles
Over weight people
UNDER weight people

We have to get away from those stereotypes of who "we" think should be secure or insecure because the fact of the matter is at some point, we've all felt insecure. Sometimes the most organized, secure looking person you know, is often the most insecure. Organization is sometimes a concealer for an insecurity. If I look put together no one will ever see all my own issues with self doubt.

I won't lie. I have my insecure days. We all have the right to that. I am often insecure about if I am doing everything to my best ability. Am I good enough? I often get upset with myself if I don't finish everything I need to finish in one day. Though I am coming to realize that sometimes I just pile too much on my plate. Regardless, I still wonder if it was really too much, or if I just didn't plan it all out well enough to get it all done? Insecurity often stems from that feeling of I just am not good enough

Thankfully though, despite my occasional battle with my own insecurity, I do realize that I AM GOOD ENOUGHGod created me for a specific purpose in life, and he knew exactly what his plans for me would be. And, most importantly, in his eyes I am more than good enough. I am perfect. And that my friends, is good enough for me.

- For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11

From one inspiration to another. Project 31: Day 27

Well, I continued my Project 31 LAST Tuesday, so I figure I'll continue it again THIS Tuesday. AKA Today. AKA Now. :)

I titled my post Inspiration from Inspiration because though I am supposed to write today to encourage and build the confidence of other beautiful women I know, the ladies I am going to write about are a constant inspiration to me.

Two of my coworkers whom I am also able to label as my friends are in a battle against their weight. And they are going to win.

One of them has been actively working to lose weight since 2008. And to date has lost and kept off 74lbs. That's amazing, isn't it? She has changed the way she eats, snacks, works out, everything.
Love a quote she recently told me "I am going to rename my plateaus peaks. Not a plateau in my weight loss, but a peak, as I get ready to tackle the next mountain." She even has a goal of becoming a personal trainer which I think is awesome because not only will she change her life, but she will be helping others change their lives. Paying it forward, and not to mention it's a way to keep herself in check. You can follow her progress here: AlphaFemale

She already has her first client.... though not really a client. Another coworker/friend. I am so proud of this beautiful soul for making life changes this year. I love her dearly as a friend and hated the thought of her possibly not being around as long as she could be, living her life to her full potential, due to weight. As of the first of this year, she has been walking regularly. Started slow, building up to a mile, and is already able to do 3 miles. WOW! She has also changed her eating habits for the better. And is realizing that just with the simple diet change, it is still possible to lose weight. She didn't get to walk last week due to an injury and still texted me the awesome news that she had lost 3lbs that week. Praise God! :) I know that had to build her confidence and inspire her to keep it up! Since she started working out I've already noticed the difference in her. It was immediate. She doesn't wheeze as much, she's got an extra kick in her step, and is glowing.

I love watching these ladies grow and evolve. They say that I inspire them but what they don't know is that in my eyes and heart, it's they that inspire me. And I thank them for that.

So, C & C, I know you both read this, THANK YOU for being an inspiration to me. I love you both. Keep doing what you are doing. I see the changes. You are both so beautiful to me, on the inside, and out. <3

XOXO

My Day.

I woke up today thinking I had my day pretty well mapped out. That all changed.

My original plans were to meet up with my wedding coordinator at the venue to go over some things, work out, and head to work.

God had different plans for me today. Plans that involved rescuing a puppy in the parking lot of my local Target. Funny since I JUST blogged yesterday about my passion for animals.

Anyways, woke up, found out my coordinator needed to reschedule for another afternoon as she was not having a good morning. She is expecting a bundle of joy later this year, and morning sickness has NOT been her friend. Bless her heart. Praying she starts to feel like herself again soon. Having never been pregnant, I can't imagine what she is going through. A random with that is that both her and her sister-in-law (another friend of mine) are expecting within a week of each other. How cool. Her sister-in-law found out the sex today. And I can officially start shopping PINK. Exxxxxciting! :)

With my plans of going to the venue knocked out I decided to do other useful wedding things with my morning so me and my maid of honor decided to drive out to SOHO aka Southern Hospitality to look for some items we needed for the wedding. The trip was a huge success as we actually found what we were looking for. I had bought the store out last week and they don't have a vendor that supplies what I was buying, SO we didn't think there would be more deliveries. But we were wrong. And I stocked up again today. YAY!

While we were there we decided to buy some donuts at this ah-mazing place in the same plaza, Hole in one Donuts. The store is in a different city so we have to take advantage while we are there (at least that's what we tell ourselves). But then I think we took TOO much advantage. We also went to a Mexican Buffet (that wasn't all that great) but regardless, we truly indulged.

Thankfully I had a gym date when I got home, so I was able to work off some of that madness at the gym. And a friend of mine joined my gym today so that was pretty cool.

But the biggest kink in my entire day came right before the gym. I found a stray puppy in the parking lot at Target. I have the puppy at my house now as I am trying hard to find the owner. I have reason to believe that the puppy does indeed have an owner, and I am hopeful that I am correct. I called Target and Petco which are in the same lot I grabbed the puppy from, and left my info in case the owners come looking for their dog. I will keep the puppy for a few days while I search, but if I can't find the owners, I will try to find a new owner, and if all else fails, I will sadly have to take this precious baby to my local SPCA. I am hoping it doesn't come to that. I took some adorable pictures that I will post later as I am asking for a detailed description (gender/coloring/markings/collar/no collar) and I wouldn't want to post all that info up here readily available to the public.

After all that I asked my boss if I could have tonight off to go serve with my church at the Florida Baptist Children's Home. We go each month and fellowship with the children in different cottages there. It's such a blessing. I am touched each time by different stories. Tonight was no different. Tears in my eyes. Let's just say I will be praying extra hard for a 14 year old female there that has been through more than I could ever imagine. Though she doesn't know it yet, I know God has good things ahead for her.

Have a great one blog world <3

How I want to be remembered :)

I'm continuing on my Project 31 journey today.

I've had to quirk today's question a bit, as it was asking how I'd want my grandchildren to remember me when I am gone. Since I don't even have children yet, let alone grandchildren, I figured I'd just do a general How I want to be remembered post.

I want the legacy I leave on this great earth to be my compassion for animals. I take a lot of grief over my efforts of fund raising for those animals that can't speak for themselves. I constantly hear "You'd save an animal before you save a human" or "How can you care so much about animals needs when there are so many humans that are just as needy" and you know what, to each their own. I feel that every cause is equally deserving, there is none better than the other. Just for me, personally, I feel that God has called me to serve with helping animals. Animal causes speak deeply to my heart, and bring me great joy and satisfaction to know that I am making but a small difference.

I sometimes laugh at myself because my love for animals runs so deep that I even have issues killing the pesty ones. Many times I have to have someone else kill them for me. I even some how notice the smallest of animals on the road and have swerved to avoid running over lizards and frogs/toads. An example from a few days ago was somehow a caterpillar had gotten in my house, and half his body was squashed, but he was still wiggling. I knew he was in pain, and that broke my heart. I actually petted this small creatures head until my fiance came out to finish the job

By the age of 23 I was one of the youngest board members of my local SPCA animal shelter. That was such an honor for me.

I'm 27 now and looking to find a way to start my own business while some how doing what I love, helping animals. It is my dream to one day run a rescue shelter.

Oh, and while we are on the topic of my passion for animals, so far I have raised $0 for the upcoming Pet's on Parade that I participate in yearly. In the past me and my friends have raised over $10,000 for our local SPCA since 2006. This year I haven't been able to be as active as I'd like as I am knee deep in wedding plans, as my wedding takes place THE SAME WEEKEND as this event. You can help by visiting my fund raising page.

& She Said YES

And by She, I mean I.

WARNING: Photo Heavy Blog

I had my wedding shower this past weekend. It was fabulous. It really was everything I had hoped for - and more. I know every bride says this, but I truly do have the best friends and family, and I absolutely adore them, and pray they know how much I love AND appreciate them, for everything(BIG and small) they do, and for always supporting me.

Now, time for some photo's:

Decor
Note: As I am photo obsessed, my theme was photography and scrap booking. We asked guests to create a scrapbook page symbolizing our friendship, it could be photos, quotes, a poem, ANYTHING. The plan is for me to create a friendship scrapbook with all the stuff turned in, as well as photo's from the shower. All the pages my friends brought were beautiful and very touching for me. I LOVED IT! Those pictures will come in a separate blog (soon). Spring was also a big part of theme/decor. I'm sure you can tell :)
Gerbera's my favorite!
DIY Shadow Box
DIY Photo Jar Favors
DIY Flower Poms
Tables
An amazing combination of puzzles my MOH maid for me as I LOVE animals. My favorite is the donkey and butterfly! Oh, and those flowers in the vase, PENS to use for game playing.
& she said yes. + Garden-y couch
way to cover a book shelf

 Food
Which I might add got me into a LOT of trouble. Left overs Saturday, Sunday, and today. We had so much yumminess - bbq lil' weenies, meatballs, chicken salad sandwiches, veggie tray, bread bowls, tortilla rolls, cake, brownies, chips and dip, macaroni salad, oh my! Guess what I just finished warming up and eating as I was compiling this blog? If you guessed brownies and chocolate chip cookies, YOU GOT IT. Tsk Tsk to the bride. I know.
Chocolate (my fav) daisy cake
Deliciousness came from here.

Games + Presents
Thinking.
And More Thinking.
And even more thinking.
Beautiful hanger for taking those hanging dress photo shots
MUFFIN PAN! I like baking!
this wrapping paper was so beautiful!
You don't understand how much I love chocolate, but my MOH DOES.
Sampling of the scrapbook pages that were made for me. More to come.
CROCKPOT - again, I love to cook!
 The wonderful people I love
Note: I took a picture with each and every one of my guests (except my future mother in law because she left before I started the photo ops, and my boss*whom is also a mentor/friend*, because she came late) BUT I can not post each and every picture. Please don't take offense if I don't post one of us. It doesn't mean I love you any less, it just means that 1: I know you don't like the pic and would punch me if I posted it :P 2: I don't like the way *I* look in the pic HAHA or 3: if I loaded every pic I wanted, it'd take forever for this blog to load (as if it won't already)
GROUP SHOT! so happy we were able to hunt down my future bro in law to take this
Double Trouble - Two Heather's
My wonderful MOH/Roomie & I <3
Family <3
My EA Momma - Emotionally Adopted
My photographer - She is FAB!
One of my best friends of close to 10 years. Longer than that if you count middle school days
BF4E. My Bridal Party - Minus my cousin who had to leave early.

And that my friends is my recap of one awesome day. Thank you to all those that played a role in making it as special as it was.

Special note of thanks to my dear friend @ Daisy Petals as most of these pics were taken by her.

Blogs I follow

Not much too blog about today. I know I still have about a week or so left on my project 31, but it's late, and I am just too tired to think much about answering a question thoughtfully. SO, I figured I'd write a quick blog linking up my favorite blogs to visit. And it IS a quick blog as I only have about four or so that I check frequently and follow on a regular basis.

Two are dear friends of mine.

DaisyJo @ Daisy Petals - She is gearing up to go on a missions trip with our church to Nicaragua this summer. Check out her blog for more updates on that. Maybe the cause will speak to your heart and you might consider being a sponsor or prayer warrior.

My roomie @ Live.Laugh.Love - She has kinda fallen off the bandwagon of blogging on a regular basis, which is understandable as she is my maid of honor in my wedding next month. SO, with that being said, we have kept pretty busy! Maybe she will pick back up soon, ya never know :)

and two I found online, via my friend DaisyJo's blog

Mandy @ She Breathes Deeply - ADORE her little blog. She is a strong Christian woman with an adorable little family. With a new addition, Lily Beloved who actually just turned ONE WEEK today. If you want to see total cuteness, check out her blog. I adore her fashion style as well, down to her tattoos and makeup. Mandy is actually the creator of Project 31, which you can find featured throughout my blog over the last month.

Ree @ The Pioneer Woman - Ohmigoodness. I don't even know where to begin with Ree. I absolutely adore her writing style. Her website is AMAZING. There truly is something for everyone, recipes, photography, animals, children, home and garden, home schooling, and an amazing book that she wrote and had published, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. You can start reading it online, and then buy it. Once I started reading, I could NOT stop. It's a love story of how she, a city girl to the max, met and fell in love with a true cowboy! It's good enough that she is even in talks with the big shots about turning it into a big screen movie. Who better to play that role that Reese Witherspoon? FINGERS CROSSED. But yeah, check her out. She has weekly photography contests, and always has something going on.

So, those are my favorites. Happy Surfing.

Oh, side note. I continue my birthday celebrations tonight as my fiance was off and took me to OLIVE GARDEN. Alfredo dipping sauce, of how I have missed you.

XOXO

Happy Birthday to Me :)

I must say, I truly did not plan to do anything special for my birthday this year. I actually planned my bridal shower on the weekend of my birthday, figuring I'd see all my loved ones then. I didn't want anyone to have to stress money, worrying about birthday party gifts, and bridal shower gifts, all so close together. SO, the easy way out of that was to just do the adult thing on my birthday, ya know, go to work

BUT, that all changed. I am blessed to have a pretty flexible job, and when I asked my boss if I decided I wanted to have the day off, if I could, she said yes. That started the debate to work, or not to work? Of course, the first question asked was WHY is this a struggle? The simple answer. Money. Unpaid day off.

Either way, the perks of having the entire day off to enjoy my birthday won out. I took the day off. And enjoyed every second of it.

I woke up and met up with my friend and we took our dogs for a nice 2 mile walk. It was funny because his dog kept acting like his leg was hurt so we'd turn around and head back to the car. BUT, the second we'd turn towards the car, he'd act fine and start running/pulling towards the car. Once we caught on, and turned the other way to continue the walk, he'd favor his leg again. Smart little bugger.

After that, I decided to head out to the cemetery to visit my momma. I wanted to be sure to tell her how appreciative I am to her for carrying me for 9 long months, giving birth, and then putting up with me for 17 years. <3 Boy do I miss her.

Then, one of my friends convinced me to meet up with her for lunch. I originally turned her down as I knew I was going to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner and wanted to be sure I didn't ruin my appetite. She convinced me that a salad would be good. So, I chose Golden Corral because I love their salad bar. Mistake. I ate more than salad there. Plus, she showed up with a balloon and cake surprise!
After lunch I came home(to which I received two adorable birthday cards in the mail I LOVE SNAIL MAIL), relaxed for a bit, made a few calls about some wedding stuff, balanced my accounts, and got ready to head out for dinner with some of my favorite gals. I must admit, my friends are pretty darn AMAZING. As I said, as of yesterday everyone was told I had to work tonight, because that was my plan. Well, plans changed, and when I decided to do a birthday dinner, 6 of my girlfriends(one even with 3 hours notice) were able to rearrange their schedules to ensure they could make it to dinner. SO SWEET.

my camera sucks. always blurry.

Did I mention I LOVE MY FRIENDS?

After a wonderful stirfry dinner, a friend (whom loathes chick flicks) and I went back to another friends house to watch a chick flick :D We watched The Switch which wasn't 100% chicky, as it was more comedy. Despite my friends threat to go hang herself in the closet due to the chick flicky nature of the film, no one was hurt during the watching of this film :)

Oh, rewinding back to the night before. When I came home last night, I received my first birthday present. A box arrived from a good friend from out of state with an edible surprise from The Popcorn Factory whom I must say have some pretty amazing Chocolate Chip Cookies.

That was my birthday/night and I wouldn't have it any other way. It was perfect, for me!
Now, next up is Thursday, when I get to celebrate my birthday with my fiance as he had to work a 14 hour shift today. Can't wait.

XOXO

Style 31 & Day 24 of Project 31.

Trying to finish off this Project 31. I am in the home stretch. :D I am answering day 24 + 25 today.

Day 24: What is Jesus teaching me presently? I've said it before, and I will say it again. I feel that over the last year I have truly learned the lesson of forgiveness. I've written a couple of blogs on this topic. You can read them by clicking below:

&

Mark 11:25 "And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

Day 25: Style 31. Posting a pic of me in sweat pants and a t shirt. Now this isn't necessarily my favorite comfy clothes. BUT, sweats and one of my many T's that I've either personally MADE for a charity event, or received AT a charity event, are my favorites. NOTE: The shirt I am wearing is one I made, with my group name, 4Paws4Love. We raise money for our local SPCA.

And these beautiful kids would be my niece and nephew whom I miss dearly as they are out of state.

On a side note, in about a half an hour, it will officially be my birthday. Another year older. and wiser. I think :)

XOXO

Project 31. Day 22. Community Needs

After a brief hiatus, I am continuing my Project 31 today.
Be sure to check out Mandy @ She Breathes Deeply. She is the creator of Project 31 and is pretty awesome.
She also went into labor yesterday with her first baby girl, Lily Beloved. Be prepared for baby cuteness.

I am not going to go into depth today about needs that need to be met in my community, as my community is no different than any other community, and this needs need to be met throughout the nation, not just my community. They are:
  • hunger - look into doing a food drive and taking the food you raised to local homeless shelters.
  • children - look into volunteering to mentor young children that might not otherwise have a positive role model during this crucial time of their life
  • teenagers - look into mentoring a young adult. You could prevent them from being another statistic that has dropped out of school, or got pregnant
  • homeless - maybe carry around extra Bibles or gift certificates to McDonald's or other fast food restaurants, that way if you don't feel comfortable giving money (which I try not to do) you can give GC's for food.
  • animals - look into volunteering at your local animal shelter. They are ALWAYS in need of walkers, foster parents, etc. They also always need donations of food & litter. Look into planning a drive to get these items and donate in bulk.
  • Less fortunate - variety of ideas, for girls in high school, hold a dress project in which you collect donated formal gowns for those that can't afford a gown for high school dances. Collect old Christmas trees and decorations to donate to those looking for decorations around Christmas time. Do a clothing collection and collect clothes to donate in bulk to a shelter.

There are SO many needs that need to be met all around. The biggest need is just people willing to make a difference. You can do any of the above things, and so much more. If you don't know where to start, GOOGLE. It's a friend of mine. You can google and find almost anything.
